Woodford Equity Income Fund trading suspension

Trading suspended in high profile investment.

All dealing in the Woodford Equity Income fund was suspended on 4 June 2019 by the Authorised Corporate Director (Link Fund Solutions). The decision means that investors are currently unable to purchase, sell or transfer their holdings within the fund until such time as the suspension is lifted.

A decision such as this is never taken lightly by all parties concerned and is done so to protect the current underlying investors.

It has been widely reported that the fund has suffered significant redemptions over the past year or so and the manager (Neil Woodford) has been actively repositioning the underlying investments to reduce the number of unquoted and less liquid holdings, albeit it is a process that takes time.

Link Fund Solutions updated investors on 29 July. In its statement it said it considered that a suspension until December would give the manager time to reposition the fund's portfolio into more liquid assets allowing the process mentioned above to continue. We will keep investors informed as and when the situation changes.
