Following its Retail Distribution Review, The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is bringing in new regulations to give consumers greater confidence and trust in the retail investment market. Fund charges are changing for the better.
Transparent funds with lower charges
When you invest in a fund through a stockbroker, the fund manager will no longer pay 'trail commission' to the broker. As a result, fund managers are reducing their annual management charges (AMC) and launching 'clean share class' versions of their funds. These funds contain the same underlying investments, but have several benefits:
- Lower fund charges
- Transparent fee structure
- Potential improvement in fund performance (due to lower charges)
- Easier comparison of charges between funds
