Know the directors

Before you invest in a company it's a good idea to know who's running it.

When you look up an investment on our website, click on 'director deals' to see if they've been dealing in their own company. Watch for when directors buy shares. It shows confidence in the company and may be an indicator for you to follow suit.

The company's annual report and accounts will feature a profile of directors with information about their previous roles and achievements. As well as the skills of individual directors, look for a mix of skills across the board and find out if any of the directors have positions on other company boards.
